I won’t lie, when I first collaborated with Batch Organics – I was a little more excited about the super flatlayable packaging than what was inside. I mean have you ever seen anything more Leela-ish than these cups?! I’m like a magpie, but for for pastel pink and aesthetically pleasing graphics!
Overlooking the contents was a big mistake though. Filled with superfoods and wonder ingredients, these cups are more than just a pretty face. The cups are flash frozen so all you need to do to make your smoothie is fill it with water and whizz up in the blender. In typical Leela fashion, it took me a little while to work out how to actually use them. I know what you’re thinking, but speaking from experience, yes, there is a wrong way to make a smoothie (hahah). I somehow disregarded reading the ingredients on the side of the cup and instead decided to use my initiative (or lack thereof), to whip up these bad boys.
My first mistake was attempting to blend up the ‘breakfast bowls’. For the first few days, I just tipped everything into the blender and wondered why it took all my strength to break down whole hazelnuts with my 5 years old hand blender (go ahead & insert the eye roll emoji here – I deserve it). I was left with a bowl akin to overnight oats. Don’t get me wrong – it was still tasty! But about a week later, during one of my insomniac nights, I finally noticed that the instructions were a whole lot simpler – ‘fill cup with water, microwave for 1 minute, enjoy’.
So the next day, I enjoyed my Cacao and hazelnut breakfast bowl as intended. I was so annoyed at myself for wasting the others as the warm, chocolatey, banana goodness, that had a taste resembling some sort of healthy nutella, was soo good. A cold smoothie is refreshing and all, but there’s nothing like a warm, hearty breakfast to comfort you on a cold morning.
It was also a week after my batch organics delivery arrived that I realised the hole in the top of the lid was for a straw (just keep those eye roll emojis coming). Just like that I had a new accessory in the form of a pink portable cup. You can just imagine the sass level I was at, walking round the gym with one of these in my hand.
One thing I really liked about Batch Organics was that care was taken to make sure their smoothies and breakfast bowls were actually tasty. I feel like sometimes, with healthy products, they just shove in all the superfoods in any random order and present you with an outcome that tastes like grass. But, batch organics have a really nice variety of unique flavours! My faves have to be the ‘Mango, Basil, Goji Berry and Flaxseed’ and the ‘Pineapple, Kale & Coconut’ smoothies.
I find that my skin only behaves if I make sure to get all my micros, (vitamins and minerals), in. But, when i’m running back and forth from the gym, to home, to my work spot and back – it can be really easy for all that to go out of the window and I can end up eating food on the go, that is just completely lacking in nutrients. These cups were a lifesaver for this ’cause I could just shove them in my bag and microwave or blend them up at work! Batch organics delivers all over the UK, so you can just store the cups in the freezer and enjoy whenever – you don’t have to worry about short use by dates!
